Please follow rubric
First, in order to evaluate yourself, complete the online assessment on the website of the American Organization of Nurse Executives. The assessment helps you to identify your strengths, weaknesses and knowledge in relation to four areas of content mentioned by the prompt. You can then use your results to evaluate and reflect upon personal and professional accountability and career planning.
You may find it helpful to ask yourself the following questions when evaluating your strengths and weakness:
- How do I rate in the four areas of content?
- What are my weak areas in each of these four subject areas?
- How can I advocate for change using my strengths?
- How can I become a better leader or advocate of change by improving in certain areas?
You may wish to use your existing leadership skills to promote change at your workplace.
- Building strong relationships with key stakeholders in the workplace
- Identifying areas of need for change and prioritizing them
- Develop a compelling and clear message that communicates the need for change
- Collaboration with colleagues and key stakeholders in order to implement and develop a change strategy
- Evaluate the success of your advocacy and adjust your approach as required
Consider the following when setting up a goal to improve your leadership skills:
- Which area of my leadership should I improve to become an effective leader?
- What actions could I take specifically to make this better?
- How will I gauge my progress toward achieving this objective?
- How can I achieve my goal with the resources and support that are available to me?
You can then create a plan of action to help you achieve your goal. Plan your actions and include a timeline.
