2. Patient’s inability to clearly verbalize their thoughts is a sign of impaired communication. This can be due to side effects from chemotherapy or radiation, such as damage to mucous tissues, the vocal cords and salivary glands.
3. Anxiety related to uncertainty about the future and fear of continued health decline as evidenced by patient’s report of having difficulty sleeping, feeling overwhelmed and experiencing feelings of dread when thinking about the diagnosis or treatments.
