In my company, decisions are usually made by a collaborative effort between the managers and the staff. The manager is typically the one who makes the final decision. The meetings are held weekly or on a monthly basis, and the exchange of ideas is encouraged to arrive at the most appropriate solution. On several occasions, as a staffer I was invited to be a part of these meetings in order to actively participate in the decision-making that impacts my practice.
It is essential that, in order to be invited to meetings like these, I keep the management regularly informed about any initiatives or projects that I have been involved with as well suggestions to streamline overall operations. Furthermore, by proactively taking on additional responsibilities within the organization—such as helping out with training new employees or developing more efficient processes—I can help demonstrate my commitment to becoming an integral part of the team’s decision-making apparatus. This approach will allow me to contribute more actively when the time comes to make important decisions.
