What two areas of knowledge have you gained?

This course taught me two important areas in relation to health assessment. They are the importance and accuracy of a comprehensive assessment and the various components, such as patient history, physical assessment and diagnostic tests, of an accurate assessment.

This course has enabled me to incorporate specific skills in health assessment into my nursing practice, including a detailed patient history, a physical exam focused on the patient, and a diagnostic analysis of test results that informs patient care plans. In addition, I learned to effectively communicate with patients throughout the process of health assessment, which includes the importance active listening, cultural sensitivity, and empathy.

Although I am confident that I can perform a health evaluation, some areas may still be unclear. For more clarity I’ll seek out additional learning opportunities such as workshops and conferences on health assessment, or ask for feedback from experienced nurses. In addition, I’ll continue to stay informed about the latest health assessments and research. In this way, I will continue to develop my skills to give the best possible health care to my patient.
