Discussion 1 of Week 6: Principles of Teaching and Learning
In their daily practice, clinical instructors are faced with many obstacles, such as time constraints, limited learning options, and fewer and shorter patients. It can be difficult for students, therefore, to maximize their experience in the clinical setting. Instructors can employ strategies to help overcome challenges, and ensure that students are learning effectively.
First, instructors can use technology to enhance the learning experience by using online simulations or virtual reality. These methods are more engaging and realistic than textbooks. They can also assign projects that require students to conduct research outside of the clinic on topics related to healthcare or specific patient cases. It will help students not only gain knowledge, but develop the critical thinking abilities necessary for success in practice.
Teachers must also put safety first by establishing expectations and providing supervision to students when they are dealing with their patients. Teachers can promote active learning by encouraging learners to take part in discussions or workshops that cover different topics related to the medical field. This will help improve overall knowledge and build relationships between students and instructors.
Finally, teachers need to ensure that teaching is consistent in all settings. For example, the same lessons should be taught at classrooms and hospitals. This will prevent anyone from feeling left behind because of differences such as location.
In conclusion , by using combination technological resources , assigning projects & creating interactive sessions clinical instructors can reduce impact posed these barriers allowing everyone benefit from equal quality education regardless any impediments present in form time constraints.
