What recommendations for change would you propose? How does this legislation affect your practice?

As a result of current laws governing healthcare, I strongly recommend that all healthcare providers review their procedures and policies to ensure compliance. The organization should ensure all data collected from the patient is stored properly and secured, that privacy policies and procedures are current, as well as that financial practices comply with applicable regulations. Also, all providers must be up-to-date on any updates or changes in laws to protect both their interests and those of their clients.

In my own practice, the law requires that I maintain certain standards in providing care. As an example, before I can perform any type of treatment on a client, I need to obtain their informed consent. Also, i must maintain detailed records for all my encounters. Understanding these requirements will help me to ensure my practice is compliant and still provide quality care for every patient that visits my office.
