Validity, reliability and application are all factors to consider when evaluating quantitative studies. Validity refers the the accuracy and truthfulness in the results of the studies in relation to research questions or hypotheses being tested. Reliability is the ability to get the same result if you repeat a study with different data collection techniques and sample sizes. Applicability examines whether or not the findings of the study can be transferred to different contexts, settings and situations outside their original scope.
Validity is, in my opinion, the most critical factor for a quantitative study’s appraisal. It helps to ensure that conclusions drawn from the study are backed by solid evidence and not based solely on speculation or assumptions. The validity of a research study is crucial to drawing accurate conclusions. Without it, you cannot draw the right inferences.
