It has often been used by people to justify unjustified actions such as racism or eugenics. This occurs when individuals incorrectly apply the concept of “survival of the fittest” to humans, assuming that certain race or ethnic groups are somehow “superior” to others in terms of their ability to adapt and survive. Additionally, this theory does not take into account non-biological factors which can influence a species’ success or failure; for example, our understanding of how culture and environment impact human populations has evolved significantly since Darwin first proposed his theories in 1859. Natural selection does not guarantee the survival of a species. While it can be beneficial in certain situations, adaptation strategies may also lead to its extinction over time if they are not monitored or managed properly. These potential traps should therefore be taken into consideration before using this theory framework to explain current human behaviour.
