Digestive system | Nursing homework help
All three organs play a role in digestion. The liver breaks down carbohydrates, proteins and lipids into smaller molecules which can then be used by your body. The liver also makes bile which is used to help break down oils, fats, and other substances. Gallbladders store bile produced by the liver and release it to the small intestine when it’s needed. The pancreas also produces hormones such as insulin, which regulates blood sugar, as well as enzymes to help break down carbohydrates and proteins. Additionally, it manufactures a fluid called pancreatic juice which neutralizes stomach acids so they don’t damage other organs while they are being digested. These three organs work together to ensure food is properly broken down so that nutrients are absorbed by the body.
