As a part of the RN-to-BSN program, I participated in a conference titled “Transforming Nursing Through Technology” held on March 1, 2023. It was an event organized by American Nurses Association that was attended nurses and health professionals across the United States.

A virtual conference was organized due to COVID-19, which is currently a pandemic. Keynote speaker stressed the role of technology to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs. Speakers also addressed the difficulties associated with using technology in health care, including cost, lack education and resistance to changes.

I attended several sessions, including “Telehealth: Challenges and Opportunities,” “Implementing EHRs: Best Practices,” and “Using Wearable Technology in Patient Care.” These sessions provided me with valuable information on how technology can be used to improve patient care and outcomes. Also, I learned that it is important to involve patients and their families in decision making and ensure technology is used safely and ethically.

This conference aligned to several program competencies including Informatics and Healthcare Technologies (IHT), Patient-Centered Care and Professionalism. By attending this conference, I have been able to increase my understanding of these topics and gain a better appreciation of the importance technology plays in nursing.

I intend to keep up to date with healthcare trends by participating in conferences, and other scholarly events. Staying current with my skills and knowledge is crucial to provide high-quality care that’s evidence-based to my patients. In addition, I want to be a leader in the nursing profession and an advocate of the use of technology.
