The two Massachusetts Nurse of the Future Core Nursing Competencies I find most valuable for my future practice are Quality Improvement and Collaborative Practice.
Collaborative practice emphasizes interprofessional collaboration, which is essential in today’s healthcare environment. To ensure the best possible patient care, nurses must have the ability to communicate effectively with physicians, pharmacists. physical therapists. and nutritionists. To achieve this competency, nurses must also understand their scope of practice. They should seek appropriate consultations when necessary. To make cost-effective decisions, I can use this knowledge to prioritize patient care while maintaining safety.
Quality improvement is also a critical component in nursing because it focuses on continual assessment and evaluation of patients’ improving outcomes through evidence-based practices or protocols. By participating in clinical research studies or conferences, nurses can remain up-to-date on the most recent developments within healthcare.
Both collaborative practice & quality improvement are important aspects of nursing that prepare us for our diverse roles as providers & leaders in today’s health care system . These two core competencies will allow me to promote safe, effective & equitable patient care for all individuals no matter their socio economic background , cultural beliefs , etc . This knowledge will be key for my ability continue innovating & advocating even more efficient processes down the line thus ensuring optimal results from beginning to end
