In order to complete this project, I conducted an interview with the employee in charge of risk management at a multi-provider medical clinic located within the local community. In the interview, the employee highlighted several of challenges that face their organization in terms of controlling infectious diseases. The interviewee highlighted several challenges the organization faces in controlling infectious diseases. These include lack of resources, inadequate training, lack compliance by staff and a high patient volume.
The organization’s infection control programme has adopted several strategies to manage risk in order to meet these challenges. Hand hygiene, personal protection equipment, infection prevention, cleaning of the environment, and surveillance are all included. Interviewees provided examples on how to implement these strategies, including hand hygiene audits and providing staff with education and training.
The facility’s educational risk management program addresses key professional issues by providing education and training to staff, emphasizing the importance of patient safety and risk management, and implementing policies and procedures that are designed to prevent negligence, malpractice litigation, and vicarious liability. He said that there are policies in place that deal with emergency triage for high-risk health care areas, like the emergency department.
To maintain and monitor its risk-management program, this facility employs several different strategies. The facility uses several strategies to monitor and maintain its risk management program. A member of the interviewee’s team mentioned that there is a facility-wide risk management committee which meets frequently to address and discuss any risks.
Overall, the organization’s risk management program is effective in controlling infectious diseases. The facility has seen a reduction in infections due to the use of strategies for risk management, such as personal protective equipment and hand hygiene. The implementation and maintenance of these strategies are still a challenge for the organization, especially in areas where there is a high volume of patients.
In order to improve the program one aspect that can be tackled is the compliance of staff. Staff could be provided with additional training and education, infection control procedures would need to be monitored and audited more closely, and a system of non-compliance addressed. Increased compliance by staff can reduce infectious disease risk, and enhance patient safety.
The management of risk is an important component to healthcare delivery. This is especially true when controlling infectious disease. The organization’s risk management program has been effective in implementing several risk management strategies, but there is always room for improvement. The organization’s risk management program can be improved by addressing staff compliance and providing a safer environment to patients.
