Neuman Systems Model was my choice for nursing practice theory due to its ability to address holistic patient care. The Neuman Systems Model views the patient as an integrated being consisting of physical, mental, social, and cultural components. This allows nurses to approach individual health issues from different angles. It also looks at patients within their unique environment which allows nurses to focus on providing interventions that are tailored to each patient’s specific circumstances.

Neuman Systems Model has been very useful to me as a nurse working in different settings, such as clinics, hospitals or long-term facilities. This holistic approach helps me in my role to give comprehensive care, while also taking into consideration the many factors that influence their health like family relationships or work stress.

The theory’s emphasis on adaptation has given me insights into the best way to care for acutely sick patients that require more monitoring and specialized interventions. This model allows me to create a plan of care for these patients that will help them achieve positive changes by focusing on both reducing the risks and hazards associated with acute illnesses as well as developing more effective strategies if those persist.
