- Rationale:
The condition of high blood pressure affects millions in the United States. It is common and can be prevented. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one out of three Americans has high blood tension. However, only half are able control their condition. High blood tension is associated with heart disease and stroke. It can also lead to kidney disease. Lifestyle modifications such as stress management and healthy eating can prevent or control high blood tension. This series of educational materials is designed to give adults the skills, knowledge and resources they need to effectively manage their blood-pressure and to improve their health.
- Evaluation Method
- Pre-test and post-test surveys to assess participants’ knowledge and attitudes about high blood pressure and its management
- Observation of participants’ participation and engagement during the seminar
- Participants can fill out a feedback form to give their suggestions or comments about the seminar
- Community Health Provider
Invite a registered or nurse practitioner to participate in the seminar. She will provide more information about blood pressure control and additional resources.
