Clinical decision support is a key area of nursing informatics that can be applied to many different positions. It involves using information and data systems to assist in clinical decision making and improve patient outcomes. Many positions are relevant because this area has the ability to improve quality and safety of patient care.

Data analysis and management as well as the clinical information system would be my top TIGER skills for this functional area. The data analysis and management skills are important because I can use them to make clinical decisions that are based on patient information. The clinical information system is also essential because it allows me to use and access patient data in real time, which I believe is crucial for providing effective care.

For me to acquire these abilities, I’d start with attending training and educational programs that are offered by my organisation. To further my understanding in this field, I will also use online resources such as webinars or online courses. Also, I’d look for mentorships with nurses experienced in the field of nursing informatics.

By developing these competencies, I would be able to increase my effectiveness as an RN by increasing my capacity to make better clinical decisions. It will also give me access to real-time patient data, and improve my ability use technology and data to enhance patient outcomes.
