Multiple stakeholders are included in the development of nursing standards of practices by my state. The state board of nurse is the first governing body that oversees all licensing and regulation activities for nurses within their jurisdiction. The board works with national organizations such as American Nurses Association or other specialty groups to create policies, laws and regulations governing how nurses are supposed to behave when caring for their patients.

These guidelines are then incorporated into a set of professional standards known as “Standards Of Practice” that all nurses must adhere to when providing care within their respective areas of specialty. These standards influence every step within the Nursing Process by delineating clear expectations for patient assessment, diagnosis, planning interventions, implementation, and evaluation—allowing nurse practitioners to confidently deliver quality care without fear of violating legal or ethical boundaries.
