After analyzing multiple postings I propose that nurses use evidence-based care when treating their patients. EBP (evidence-based practice) is a healthcare approach that relies on research to guide decisions. Nurses can provide better care based solely upon the evidence, and not on personal preference or experience.
The EBP approach helps improve the patient experience by including new research in their field, keeping them up to date on advances in clinical practices, creating a forum for sharing knowledge and experiences amongst themselves and offering activities which help develop leadership skills. EBP can also help healthcare organizations make better decisions by identifying areas that could use more resources.
In order to provide the best possible patient care, nurses must embrace evidence-based medicine. This will also allow them to continue growing professionally. This philosophy should be incorporated into all nursing education levels and current nurses must also keep up with new standards of practice.
