Personal Leadership Philosophies
As a manager, I am committed to creating and maintaining an environment of mutual respect, growth and innovation. In order to be an effective leader, I must have both natural qualities and acquired skills. I work hard at developing these continuously. I base my personal leadership philosophy on these core values.
- Integrity: My actions and my decisions are transparent and I strive to lead by example.
- Empathy: My team and I are always listening to each other.
- Accountability: My belief is that I am responsible for all my decisions and actions, and hold myself and others to account for these.
Personal mission/vision statement:
It is my personal mission to empower and inspire the members of my team to reach their potential. I do this by giving them all necessary support and resources. I want to create an environment where everyone feels appreciated and is motivated to do their best.
CliftonStrengths Analysis:
My top five CliftonStrengths are: strategic thinking (as determined by my CliftonStrengths Assessment), analytical thinking (as determined by my CliftonStrengths Assessment), empathy, responsibility and harmony. They are also in alignment with my philosophy of leadership, as I can use them to foster relationships, think critically and understand other perspectives.
There are Two key ways to improve your performance:
Although I am a firm believer in continuous improvement, it is clear that two behaviors are essential to becoming a better leader. They are delegating and assertiveness.
Planning for Development:
The following are the steps I intend to take in order to change these bad habits:
- Delegation – I’ll start off by identifying the tasks that my team can complete and provide them with all of the resources and assistance they need to do so. I’ll also be monitoring their progress, and providing feedback in order to make sure they are aware of the expected deliverables and expectations.
- Assertiveness – I will demonstrate assertiveness when I speak up with concerns or ideas and be clear and concise. In order to balance assertiveness while maintaining empathy, I will seek feedback from members of my team.
Conclusion:
I would like to conclude by saying that my leadership philosophy is built on the principles of integrity, accountability and empathy. It is intended to foster a positive work environment, one which encourages innovation and growth. With the help of this development plan, my goal is to enhance my assertiveness and delegation skills. I also want to reach my vision to empower and inspire my team so that they can achieve their potential.
