It is important to consider access to healthcare because people who do not have the resources, such as transportation or insurance, may find it difficult to get quality care. The cost of medical care can also be a policy concern that prevents some people from getting the attention they need due to out-of pocket expenses or limited coverage. Finally, patient engagement has become increasingly important as it addresses many factors that influence an individual’s overall health outcomes including self-management strategies and lifestyle choices.

This policy will have an impact on nursing practices by increasing the focus of providing high-quality care to underserved groups. These initiatives include improving healthcare access through telehealth or expanding collaboration programs within communities in order to identify any gaps in the care.
