Diagnose and treatment of chronic illnesses
Factors that can lead to specific illnesses or diseases will differ depending on what illness is being discussed. In general, lifestyle factors like poor eating habits, inactivity, and smoking are the main causes of illness. In addition, genetics and environmental factors can contribute to the development certain diseases.
If you have a history of cancer in your family, it is likely that someone who does not practice healthy habits or undergo regular screenings will be at greater risk of developing the illness themselves. This could also be exacerbated if you live in an environment with high pollution levels.
Understanding both modifiable factors and those that are not modifiable will allow us to develop interventions focused on prevention, while also providing support for people who already suffer from chronic diseases or disabilities.
