Hispanic/Latinos who are diagnosed with or at risk of developing diabetes is the population for which I will assess and make a recommendation based on evidence for primary health care. This community faces a serious public health issue due to the prevalence of diabetes. Certain risk factors can be managed or prevented by adopting a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, it’s important to provide appropriate interventions and education in order to reduce its prevalence.
This population should be included in a primary care plan that includes activities like providing free screenings, offering nutrition counselling, addressing linguistic barriers, improving access to culturally-sensitive healthcare, encouraging diabetes self management through patient education on blood sugar testing, carbohydrate tracking, etc.Explore the safe use of herbal remedies, where applicable.
