A solution has been suggested that would allow government officials to directly negotiate with drug companies about prices. It would increase transparency in the pricing of drugs, making them more accessible to patients.

Revisions to drug pricing policy could result in reduced healthcare costs, improved access to medications and better health outcomes for those patients who would otherwise not be able to pay for necessary treatment. But there are also potential downsides. For example, a reduction in research and innovation into new drugs if the pharmaceutical industry is not able generate as much income from sales.
