As an RN, I aim to give compassionate care to both my patients and the families of those patients. In order to provide the highest quality of service, I want everyone to feel respected and heard. I am also interested in providing educational resources to people so they can be more knowledgeable about medical topics.
If I want to serve other nurses better, then I should incorporate aspects of servant-leadership in my nursing practice. This could include building strong relationships and listening attentively when talking with others. By evaluating how my beliefs and behaviors may impact those around me, I can also develop self-awareness. This will help me to become an effective leader that puts others’ needs before mine.
Ultimately—I think embracing the tenets of servant-leadership will allow me to foster an environment where people feel valued and supported while they embark on their healing journey.
