I’ve seen unethical behavior in the office. At my former job, I was involved in a case of corruption and bribery. The manager would offer employees favorable treatment in exchange for favors such as running errands or buying her gifts. When this came to light, it caused a lot of tension between staff members as well as confusion about our company’s values and expectations around ethical conduct. The incident also damaged my opinion of the firm and I began to wonder if the managers were really trying to protect our interests, or merely benefiting themselves.
