For the final project in this course, you will develop a patient safety presentation that evaluates an information management strategy in place (ideally in your workplace) to determine if it improves patient safety and patient outcomes. To help you develop this presentation, you will submit three milestones throughout the course. For this first milestone, choose your information technology and management topic. Describe your chosen topic and give your rationale for choosing this topic (i.e., why it is important to your workplace, how it improves patient safety, etc.). Submit your topic selection for feedback and approval from your instructor.

3. Clinical Decision Support Systems: CDSS are a tool that can help healthcare professionals make clinical decisions. They do this by providing them with evidence-based advice, alerting them to possible adverse drug reactions or events, and offering diagnostic assistance. CDSS can be evaluated in your office to identify improvements and make sure that it is optimal for safety.
4. Telemedicine: Telemedicine allows patients to access healthcare remotely. This reduces the number of in-person appointments and improves patient outcomes. Telemedicine can be evaluated in your office to identify improvements and make sure that it is safe for patients.

Consider the needs and challenges in your work environment and the ways that the information management strategies can be used to address these issues and improve outcomes and patient safety. After you’ve chosen your topic and received feedback, discuss it with your teacher to make sure it is aligned with course requirements.
