I have a collaborative style of handling conflicts. By facilitating open, honest communication among all involved parties in health care environments with my ability to manage conflicts collaboratively, I can improve leadership. By taking a cooperative approach, I am able to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard and their ideas are valued, which helps foster an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding amongst team members. This approach also helps to improve problem solving strategies, since multiple viewpoints are taken into consideration when it comes to resolving conflicts or disagreements. This resolution helps to strengthen the relationships between co-workers and build trust among those who you lead.
My ability to manage conflict in a collaborative manner can be hindered by individuals who are unwilling to compromise due to their personal prejudices or different opinions. When one side is not willing to compromise on a certain issue or to find a common ground, this can lead to stalemate during negotiation and hinder progress toward achieving an agreement. A decision-making process that relies too heavily on collaboration can also be slow and inefficient, as all parties must agree before taking any action.
