Identity-based Motivation is the theory that I chose. It suggests individuals pursue goals or activities based on personal beliefs and values. It is relevant in many contexts, including education, health promotions, and organization change initiatives, as it can help us understand the reasons why people choose to engage in specific activities.
This theory can be used by an educator to determine the best way to motivate students with different cultural backgrounds. Knowing the values and beliefs that are unique to each group will help you determine what rewards or incentives work best. The same could also apply when designing health campaigns or interventions as knowledge about an individual’s identity could reveal what types of messages would resonate with them the most.
The identity-based framework is a useful tool for understanding the human condition and can be used to inform decisions about how to best deal with certain problems within a population. By taking individual identities into consideration, practitioners will be more likely to create strategies with both immediate and longer-term advantages.
