There are different systems for civil court and criminal courts. In general, civil courts deal with private disputes such as those between people or organisations, including contract negotiations, claims for property damage, and landlord-tenant conflicts. In civil cases, the primary goal is to provide monetary compensation to injured parties to return them to their previous state. A jury will assess compensatory and punitive damage according to applicable laws. The criminal courts deal with accusations of criminal conduct. These can be minor crimes like traffic infractions or more serious ones such as assault or murder. The punishment in these situations can be fines, community service, probation, or even imprisonment depending on how serious the crime committed was. Criminal proceedings are different from civil cases, which typically involves individuals suing each other. Instead, a prosecutor represents society as a whole and seeks justice for the accused. Civil and criminal courts both serve an important role in the legal system. However, they operate very differently because of specific laws for each type.
