A lack of resources is another barrier. Many healthcare providers are too busy to spend the time necessary to access reliable research material or collaborate with their colleagues to exchange ideas. Financial restrictions may prevent hospitals investing in tools that are necessary for EBP implementation, like technology and data collection systems.
To ensure that EBP is implemented successfully, it requires the support of all members in the organization. They must also understand how important EBP can be for improving patient outcomes. An RN facilitator can play an important role here by providing guidance, support and education when it comes to gathering evidence, evaluating results, critically analyzing published research studies, seeking out stakeholders’ input during decision making processes etc.. By helping bridge this gap between available information and nursing practice they are more likely help foster positive changes within their organizations.
