My school library’s databases are my first choice when I am researching a topic. In this situation, I used EBSCOhost for articles relevant to my research topic. The database enabled me to filter the search results using keywords or date ranges. It also provided me with access to different types of sources, such as magazines, newspapers, peer-reviewed publications, and other similar resources. This allowed me to verify that information presented came from credible, reliable sources.

After narrowing down my search parameters, I chose an article entitled “Leadership Theory and Nursing Practice” published in 2015 by The Online Journal of Issues in Nursing. This article discusses how leadership theories can be applied in order to enhance nursing practice—specifically through the use of servant leadership. This article highlights strategies to develop effective leaders in healthcare organizations that can improve staff satisfaction and patient outcomes.

The fact that EBSCOhost has so many options for content and allows me to narrow down my search by using specific criteria is why I use it most. It allows me to quickly find articles that are relevant and I can be confident they come from reliable sources.
