Patients safety: federal laws or regulations
Electronic health records are the technology that is associated with my chosen law/regulation. It is important to have a technology that allows for storing patient information in a safe and secure manner, so it can be easily accessed when necessary by healthcare professionals. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, or HIPAA requires that sensitive information be protected through software, hardware, and network security. Additionally, EHRs allow for easy sharing of files between providers so that care can be coordinated more effectively – reducing paperwork and streamlining communication between different organizations.
Telemedicine has become more popular in recent years, allowing patients to get medical treatment from the comfort of their home. The system is heavily reliant on digital technology, such as remote monitoring systems and video-conferencing systems that can measure vitals signs or track medications. This type of service will continue to grow in popularity, and it is important that healthcare facilities implement the appropriate safeguards for HIPAA while still allowing this service to be offered.
