Discuss the current public image of nursing and how events in history have formed that image.

Over the years, nursing has had a rich and long history in providing care to people who are most vulnerable. However, its public perception has undergone many changes. Initially, nurses were seen as “ministers” whose main goal was to provide comfort &care to their patients with little recognition or respect from others. This perception changed during World War II when more women began taking on prominent roles in the healthcare industry.

Since then there have been several events which have further shaped nursing’s public image such as technological advances like EHRs and telemedicine which made it easier for nurses to communicate with their patients remotely . Additionally , increased education & research opportunities along with greater visibility in popular media helped move the profession forward towards becoming a respected career choice.

In general, the nursing profession has made great strides since its humble origins. If you look back in time, it will give you an insight on how the various events shaped its present reputation! This knowledge can be invaluable when attempting to spread awareness about all that nurses do while advocating for better pay & working conditions in the future.
