Deliverable 5 – finalize project schedule and mitigate any delays
Projects, especially large ones, can face a variety of challenges due to unexpected events. Budget-wise, additional resources and unforeseen costs may be needed to finish the project within the budget. The human capital may also be affected by staffing adjustments to meet the demands of the event. It may be necessary to hire additional staff or reassign existing staff to cope with the shift in responsibility caused by an event.
Another area where unexpected events may have an impact is the scheduling. If an event forces a delay in part of a project’s timeline, then other parts must also adjust accordingly in order for them to stay on track and meet their original deadlines. If not enough care is taken to make sure that the project’s details are accurate and up-to date, when it is time to deliver or publish the work, then quality control may suffer. It’s important for teams dealing with sudden events to remain flexible and agile so they can quickly adapt their plans while still producing excellent work at the end of it all.
