Implementing effective communication strategies is one of the best changes I can make in my workplace and practice to improve care and incorporate more competencies. The patient must be actively listened to, procedures and treatments clearly explained, feedback given on their questions, as well as an open dialog with the staff.
I would also like to focus more on building a team, as this will create a greater sense of unity within my office. It could be as simple as organizing employee meetings on a regular basis or creating committees to focus on certain aspects of patient-care, such safety or customer service. This type of initiative not only encourages collaboration between disciplines, but it also gives employees a chance to share their ideas and opinions.
These changes will help to ensure that all those involved in my office work together toward a common goal, which is providing the best care possible for our patients. My workplace will feel empowered by incorporating communication strategies and cultivating a collaborative culture.
