Infections caused by bacteria can cause symptoms like fatigue, fever or vomiting. Intoxication is caused by ingesting pre-formed toxins, which are created by some types of bacteria. It can lead to food poisoning as well as other issues with the gastrointestinal tract such a diarrhea and abdominal discomfort. In addition, antibiotics are needed to combat bacterial infection. However, intoxication is treated with rest and water. It is crucial to distinguish between the two in order to diagnose and treat them properly. Failure to do this could result in unnecessary suffering, or death.
