Smokers’ lung cancer and diabetic elderly men
In my health promotion program, I would increase the availability of healthy foods for those in need within my community. To achieve this, I will partner with local business and markets who sell affordable fresh produce to provide these items to areas that currently have limited access to healthy foods. Aside from that, I plan to create a campaign of education for people on nutrition and how important it is to eat a balanced meal. With this initiative, my goal is to inform people on the importance of eating a balanced diet and provide them with resources to help.
Program activities will include cooking classes, demonstrations of healthy cooking and nutrition labels as well as workshops on how to read and understand ingredient lists. In order to motivate retailers, I also plan on offering incentives such as discount or free items for stores that participate. In addition to implementing the strategies, I will also monitor long-term health outcomes. This program is designed to make nutritious food more accessible for those in need within my local community.
