Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that affects a person’s ability to think, feel, and behave normally. It is characterized by a variety of different symptoms such as hallucinations , delusions, disorganized speech/behavior , & social withdrawal (NIMH, 2021).
In terms of physical signs & symptoms one may experience fatigue or agitation as well as changes in appetite or sleeping patterns . Other common findings include poor concentration/memory loss , lack of motivation, & difficulty expressing emotions . Also, executive dysfunction and cognitive impairments are seen in this condition.
Overall, it is clear that Schizophrenia can have a significant impact on one’s life ! By understanding the various signs/symptoms associated with this disorder – we can then take steps towards better diagnosing and treating those affected!
