Describe the steps taken in preparation for the event (beyond listening or attending the event).

In order to prepare for an event I take more than just listening and attending. To gain an understanding of any issues discussed or key people involved, I’d first research the subject. It is important to read press articles, watch interviews, and listen to relevant stakeholders. Also, before the event I will reach out to participants and try to make connections to help me start conversations when we arrive.

To refresh my memories and make sure that I’ve noted all changes, new information or developments correctly, I also would review the notes of previous events. This preparation will help me arrive prepared and ready to engage in meaningful conversation with the other attendees.
