The week 6 evidence-based Practice Assignment – Section Nur-699
The valuation plan for a project based on evidence-based practice
Introduce yourself
EBP projects are not complete without evaluation. Evaluation is a critical component of EBP projects. It allows you to assess the outcomes of the project, identify strengths and weakness, and develop strategies for improvement. This paper presents a plan to evaluate an EBP that seeks to improve outcomes for patients in a healthcare environment.
Collection of Outcome Data
To collect data on outcomes, the project will employ a pre/post design. This design was chosen because it allows comparisons of outcomes between patients before and after implementation. The design helps establish causal relationships between project outcomes and this design. These data will come from chart reviews and surveys of patients, as well as staff.
The Evaluation of Outcomes
These outcome measures evaluate how well the project goals are being met. By implementing evidence-based prevention and control measures, the project will improve patient outcomes. Incidence of HAIs will be measured, as well as the rate at which infection prevention and controls practices are adhered to, and the satisfaction level with care.
The Measurement of Outcomes
Results will be evaluated and measured based on evidence. Data collection will use standardized methods to verify the validity and reliability of outcomes measures. Test-retest and inter-rater testing will determine the reliability of outcomes measures. It will also be checked that the outcomes measures fit the project’s objectives and are applicable.
How to deal with non-positive results
Several strategies will be used if there are no positive outcomes. The team of the project will first review the process for implementing the plan and look at any weak areas that might have been responsible for the outcome. The team will then reevaluate all evidence to identify gaps and inconsistencies which may have affected project results. The team will then develop strategies and put them into action to correct the weaknesses identified.
