NURS 6670 – Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Role II: Adults and Older Adults | NURS 6670 – Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Role II: Adults and Older Adults | Walden
In my state, the nurse practitioner association is very active in advocacy and legislative activities. The organization also lobby for laws that will reduce barriers to full practice authority, including restrictions for PMHNPs on prescription of medications and work under supervision. NPs also work with healthcare groups to help ensure the public, legislators and other stakeholders understand how important it is to give NPs greater autonomy to provide quality care for their patients.
Additionally, they advocate increasing access to services for mental health by pushing state governments for increased funding and potentially expanding current policies (such insurance parity laws), which would help those most in need of treatment have more options. Finally, the organization is also involved in promoting diversity within nursing – such as supporting initiatives like free trainings or seminars on working with underserved populations –in order to better meet the needs of all communities across my state.
