I can apply learning theories to increase my motivation in nursing. In order to increase my knowledge, I would use the behaviorism model. For instance, by creating measurable targets that tracked progress over time with rewards when each target was met. Social learning theory also suggests that it is important to observe others when trying to learn new skills. Therefore, actively looking for mentors and colleagues with extensive experience could be helpful in this respect.
In addition, constructivism stresses the importance of experience. This can be obtained by participating in different activities like simulations or exploring various topics in nursing. In the end, by examining these theories and how they might be applied to me personally I’m able better to understand why some approaches may work more effectively than others. I then have a clearer understanding of what next steps to take to reach success.
