Incivility was displayed in my workplace once when I heard a coworker make derogatory remarks about my work. It was disrespectful, unprofessional and created a negative atmosphere. In a private conversation, I explained to this person how the words they had said negatively affected me. Then I asked the person to apologize to me and to those that had heard their remarks. I asked the person to apologize sincerely for their mistake. It helped reduce tension in the group.
