Global Health Comparison Matrix & Plan for Social Change
Introduction The global health challenges require the collective efforts of all countries. World Health Organization identified a number of pressing issues in global health that need urgent attention. They include mental health, infectious diseases and non-communicable illnesses. Brazil and the United States both face global health challenges, yet their responses to them differ. This paper provides a matrix of comparisons between Brazil and the U.S. regarding noncommunicable diseases. The paper will also present a social change plan that integrates global perspectives into my role of a nurse-leader.

The Plan for Social Change, Part 2.
In order to advocate for a global view in my role as nurse leader I would:
- I will work with healthcare professionals in my community to implement programs for diabetes management and prevention.
- Include cultural awareness and competence in my practice for better diabetes care of underserved groups.
- Encourage the development of policies to provide comprehensive, affordable care for diabetes patients regardless their socioeconomic situation or geographic location.
- You can use social media channels and other communication tools to increase awareness of the importance diabetes management. This is especially important in developing nations where healthcare access is restricted.
Incorporating a global view into my local nursing practice, as a leader of nurses, represents social change and is a contribution to it by:
- Promote health equity amongst underserved groups and reduce health disparities.
- Raising public awareness about the prevention and treatment of diabetes and informing patients will lead to improved health.
- Encouraging healthcare organizations and policymakers to adopt comprehensive and patient-centered care models, similar to Brazil’s healthcare system.
- Contributing to global efforts to promote better health and a more healthy future for everyone.
The conclusion of the article is:
All countries must work together to address global health concerns, including non-communicable disease. Brazil and the U.S. have very different approaches to managing and preventing diabetes, but can benefit from each other’s experiences to achieve better health outcomes. Incorporating a global view into my practice as a nurse can reduce disparities in health and promote equity. This will lead to improved health outcomes.
