One nursing theory that is often utilized in practice and research is Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring. The model is based on the idea of caring between the nurse and the patient, as well as a holistic approach. An example of an article utilizing this theory is “The Experiences of Registered Nurses Practicing Watson’s Nursing Theory in Mental Health Care Settings” by Steinicke et al. (2017). The study explored how nurses perceive their own practice when utilizing Watson’s theory and also what challenges they faced in doing so. The article explores how nurses could use Watson’s theory effectively to deliver high-quality care, while exploring areas of improvement and future research in this field.
