Humanistic psychology emphasizes the importance of personal growth and an individual’s potential for self-actualization. The humanistic approach believes each person is uniquely capable of achieving meaning or purpose through their search for direction.
Social psychology is concerned with understanding the influence that society has on people’s attitudes, values, beliefs and behaviors. It looks at the effects that peers, family members or cultural norms have on one’s social behavior as well as examining group dynamics such as conformity or cooperation within groups.
